With a small team of designers and developers, I designed multiple SaaS platforms and the design system to back it up for this leading finance platform. Smart Pension is a retirement platform that serves over 1 million users and £10billion AUM.
Financial Interface Design
Designing the interface to work on the web, and embedded in healthcare systems
I helped deliver the Keystone Design System and was integral in the redesign of all the applications that run on the Smart Platform, which spans B2C and B2B, as well as internal administration.
These applications are used by Smart Pension UK, New Allied Irish Bank, and Zurich Insurance Group.
- User Experience (UX): Crafting intuitive workflows and interfaces to simplify complex retirement data for diverse user groups.
- User Interface (UI): Developing a cohesive and visually appealing design system adaptable to various branding needs.
- Collaboration: Partnering with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to ensure design alignment with business objectives and user requirements.
- Innovation Strategy: Helping define an innovation roadmap, beta program, and experimentation strategy.
- Feature Delivery: Delivered over 15 beta features, of which 5 have been adopted into the Keystone platform.
- Design System Setup: Established the Design System function from scratch, defining the Figma design and React front-end processes.

The idea of a design system was seeded, and then it was implemented in an initiative we called "Lift and Shift", which took the current designs and moved them to the new system. This is now used in four countries, and includes right to left langauage support.

User engagement in financial products, especially pensions, can be a difficult problem to crack. Campaigns were designer that would encorage user engagemet by using different hooks. All images and text were A/B tested with small cohorts to optimise the engagement metrics.
